How to setup a FLAkit1/2
 
Check that you have a LAN / Ethernet socket on each PC if so go to “Removing existing ISP connection”
If not Obtain a LAN card or USB LAN adaptor see network accessories on the website:
 
Installation of a PCI card LAN Adaptor
1. Turn off your PCs – Remove lid (case screws at rear – lift off) or for a Dell Turn PC on side and press end catches top and bottom whilst pulling case upwards.
2. Find a free PCI slot push the card fully home - you may need to remove a blanking plate to fit the LAN card secure with screw provided or catch in the case of Dell.
3. Switch on PC and allow Windows to install the LAN card (should be automatic with XP) or use disk supplied.
 
Removing existing ISP connection
1. Make a note of your user name and password provided by your ISP for your existing USB ADSL modem
2. Unplug the USB lead from the PC to the USB ADSL modem
3. Unplug the telephone lead at the back of the USB ADSL modem and leave to one side – you will need to connect this to the router see below.
4. Now go to Start on your PC – control panel – switch to classic view – select internet options – connections – make sure the box in the middle is selected to never dial a connection – click on LAN settings and ensure top line is ticked and all other fields are empty. Click OK then apply /OK
5. Close down PC
 
Install Fflasar605 HomePlug router
1. Plug router into power socket (preferably a wall socket not an extension and not on a filtered/surge protected block.)
2. Plug the free end from the USB telephone cable from 2 above into the ADSL socket on rear of router
3. Plug a LAN cable (supplied with router) into any of the four sockets on the rear of the router and the other end into the LAN socket on the back of the PC.
4. Switch on router – toggle switch at rear.
 
1. Switch on PC
2. After loading click on internet explorer (blue e) and no page will appear it will kind of error – you can speed this process up by pressing the stop button on the top row of the tool bar for internet explorer.
3. In the address bar – delete the current detail and type 192.168.1.1 then press enter. After a while you should see the login screen 10 of the router manual.
4. click on User ID
5. type name to your ISP given adsl username
6. type password to your ISP given ADSL password
7. leave all other settings as protocol = pppoa / vpi = 0 / vci = 38
8. click connect
9. click save (top left)
10. all should be working now.

Change MTU value
11. to set select advanced - wan - quickstart -
12. set MTU to 1458 (Note MTU value of AOL is 1400/ talktalk1400 & Tiscali's MTU is 1500 )
13. press apply
14. Click save config (bottom of screen)
15. Click apply
16. click save settings

Remote (client) PC with HomePlug
1. Fit LAN card as in "Installation of a PCI card LAN Adaptor"
2. Deselect ISP as in "Removing existing ISP connection"
3. Plug in the HomePlug and run a LAN cable from the unit to the PC
4. Restart the PC
5. You should be connected to the Internet.
 
You should have now created a basic network allowing both to simultaneously access the net.

How to setup a FLAkit3 or FLArouter
 
Check that you have a LAN / Ethernet socket on each PC if so go to “Install FLArouter router”
If not Obtain a LAN card or USB LAN adaptor see network accessories on the website:
 
Installation of a PCI card LAN Adaptor

Install FLArouter router
1. Switch off your ISPs Cable Router
2. Switch off your PC
3. Unplug the LAN cable from your PC that currently connects to your ISPs Cable Router
4. Plug the FLArouter into a power socket
5. Plug the free end of the LAN cable removed earlier into the WAN socket on the FLArouter
6. Plug a LAN cable into any of the four sockets on the rear of the FLArouter and the other end into the LAN socket on the back of the PC.
7. Switch on the ISP's Cable router
8. Switch on the FLArouter
 
Setup Internet connection
1. Switch on your PC
2. After loading click on Internet explorer (blue e)
3. Give the unit a minute or two to establish connections then you should now be connected to the internet – check by closing and re-opening your internet browser.
4. If you need too, consult the FLArouter manual to setup Firewall settings etc.

Setup the FLArouter HomePlug
1. Using one of your HomePlugs plug a free end of the lan cable supplied into a free socket on the rear of the FLArouter
2. Plug the HomePlug into a free wall socket
 
Remote (client) PC with HomePlug
1. Fit LAN card as in "Installation of a PCI card LAN Adaptor"
2. Now go to Start on your PC – control panel – switch to classic view – select internet options – connections – make sure the box in the middle is selected to never dial a connection – click on LAN settings and ensure top line is ticked and all other fields are empty. Click OK then apply /OK
3. Plug in the HomePlug and run a LAN cable from the unit to the PC
4. Restart the PC
5. You should be connected to the Internet.
 
You should have now created a basic network allowing both to simultaneously access the net.
